Welcome to Our New Home: A Quick Guide to Substack
A quick & painless guide to what this is and how it all works.
Hey, everyone!
So, if you're reading this, you probably noticed things look a little different around here. I am so excited to finally welcome you to our new home for Mom Life Handbook, right here on Substack.
I know what you might be thinking—another platform to learn. And I get it. The reason I made this move, honestly, was to try and make things easier for you. I know for years my emails have been playing hide-and-seek with your promotions tab, or worse, your spam folder. And then you had to go find the podcast episodes in a completely different library. It was all over the place.
My hope is that this move fixes that, bringing everything that matters under one roof.
First, The Most Important Thing...
Let's make sure you actually get my emails. Because that's the whole point. Here’s how to tell your inbox that you actually want to hear from me:
If you use Gmail: Find an email from me, and drag it from your 'Promotions' tab to your 'Primary' tab. A little box will pop up asking if you want to do this for future messages. Just click "Yes."
On Apple Mail: Find me in your sender list, tap on my name, and choose "Add to VIPs."
For everyone else: The simplest thing is to just add my email address erin@momlifehandbook.com to your contacts. That usually does the trick.
So, What Even Is Substack? (The 2-Minute Tour)
Okay, the simplest way to think about it is as a Choose-Your-Own-Adventure approach:
In Your Inbox: Just like before, my posts will come to you as emails. You don't have to do anything different. You can read them, reply to them, and archive them right from your inbox. Easy.
Here on the App or Website: This is the new part I'm really excited about. If you download the Substack app (it's free and actually not annoying) or just come to the website, not only will everything I've ever created be in one organized library, but it's also the easiest way to join the conversation. You can leave comments, reply to other people, and join our private Group Chat right from your phone. No more searching your inbox or feeling like you're just reading alone.
What You Can Expect From Me Here
I'm structuring our handbook to make it as helpful as possible. For now, while I'm getting this community started and we're all settling in, everything I post is completely free. Here are the main things you’ll see from me:
🧘♀️ A Little Less: My monthly personal essay series where I get honest about what happens when we let go of the things that weigh us down.
✨ The Monthly Reset: Your practical guide to a calmer, more organized month. Think of this as the super-practical, actionable part of Mom Life Handbook.
🎙️ Off The Record: My private audio notes. These are short, unfiltered thoughts I share in real-time—the kind of stuff I'd share in a voice note to a good friend.
📚 The Vault: Because everything lives here in one place, we're building The Vault from day one. Every post and audio note will be in the archive, easy for you to find. For now, the entire vault is open to everyone.
And That's the Most Important Part: This is a Conversation
The biggest reason I wanted to move here is to build The Group Chat—our own private community for honest conversations.
For now, that's going to happen in the comments section of every post. So please, jump in below and say hi. Introduce yourself, share a thought, tell me what you're struggling with this week. This isn't just me talking into the void anymore; it's us, figuring it out together.
Okay, that's the quick tour. My only goal is to make this a genuinely helpful, supportive space for you. Thanks for coming on this new journey with me.
Keep Simplifying,
Erin
