What you can expect
💕 What's free, what's paid.
I’ve decided it’s time for us to define the relationship.
I’ve been writing here for a while without ever really talking with you about what A Little Less looks like behind the scenes—what’s free, what’s paid & what I’m trying to build.
Here’s where I’ve landed:
Every essay will always be free to read. If you’re a mom who needs to hear these ideas, you should be able to read it without paying for the privilege.
That said, the essays take real time & real energy to produce. Paid subscriptions exist as patronage, not premium content. They’re a way for readers who want to support that work to do that.
Paid subscriptions are the reason this publication stays free for everyone to read.
It’s also what keeps it ad-free & sponsor-free. No one is selling you anything here & I’d like to keep it that way.
If you do choose to subscribe, here’s what’s added on top of the free experience:
A voiceover of every essay, recorded by me. For the carpool line, the folded laundry, the quiet before anyone is up.
A weekly voice memo at the bottom of each essay. These are unscripted, off the cuff, the personal details, the parts I can’t fit into the written essays, etc. Like hearing from a friend who’s in the thick of it alongside you, figuring it out in real time.
Comment access for meaningful conversation between readers who are reading these essays with the same mindset & intention as you are.
The cost is $10 a month or $96 a year. Subscriptions can change as your needs change. You can stay free indefinitely. You can upgrade whenever it makes sense. You can step back. And every essay will include the option if it ever feels like the right time.
And for readers who want to support more meaningfully, there’s also a Founding Member tier at $200 a year. It’s not a higher-content tier—it’s a higher-relationship one. Founding Members receive a welcome card from me when they join, plus a few other small surprises throughout the year. If supporting the work of A Little Less matters a lot to you, this is the tier for you.
And to those of you who are already paid subscribers — thank you. You’re the reason this stays the way it is.
Talk soon,
Erin
